Bruno Munari: Il Desegno, Il Design
2009 Bruno Munari monograph by the Center for the Study of Archives and Communication in Parma. Its throughline seems to be works on paper spanning the polymath's career. His sketches are usually quite fleshed-out and interesting in themselves whatever the eventual intended medium. He did painting, collage, graphic design, industrial design, dozens of kids books. I suspect these distinctions didn't matter much to him—he's one of those design-wanderers like Max Bill, Ettore Sottsass or Enzo Mari. The in-print Penguin paperback of his book Design as Art is an undefeated bookstore-coffeeshop staple, you'd definitely recognize the cover.
